About Francisco Ferenczi

Francisco Ferenczi is a renowned Brazilian artist who speaks seven languages and has had numerous exhibitions in South America, Europe, and the United States. The artist's connection to his tropical environment and European heritage is apparent in his use of vivid colors and subtle shapes. Mr. Ferenczi is skilled in several mediums, including bronze, alabaster, oils, wood, and paper. His art pieces are both striking and unique.

Mr. Ferenczi's home base is currently split between Brazil and Portugal. Most recently he was living and working in Santa Fe New Mexico, where all the work you are seeing in the show was transported from. Francisco arrived in the US from Brazil with only his easel and clothes to begin to initiate his journey in the arts in America. From 1998 - 2019 he was living and working in NYC while developing his unique and evocative style in his Quakertown studio in Pennsylvania.

His journey in the arts started later than most. When he was 24 he was sent to Germany by the Brazilian Government to train in nuclear engineering before taking a job in Brazil as a nuclear engineer. He was working on a large project to assist the Brazilian government in managing seven new plants that they received from Germany. Upon his return to Brazil at 28, after being exposed to the arts in Europe, Francisco abandoned his career in engineering to pursue the arts, “cutting off my ear” as he says to pursue his passion.

About The Curator Collective

The Curator Collective was founded on a simple belief: Philadelphia deserves a gallery that takes its artists and its audiences equally seriously. Housed inside The Curator at 151 N 3rd Street in Old City, the gallery represents a working roster of emerging and established painters, sculptors, ceramicists, and photographers, with a program built around rotating displays throughout the year.

The space comes alive beyond the walls with live jazz that takes the gallery stage Friday through Sunday nights, featuring musicians from across Philadelphia and the broader region. Throughout the year, the Collective also hosts artist meetups, community gatherings, opening receptions, and exclusive afterparties for those on our email list.

More than a gallery, The Curator Collective is a third space and a home away from home for the people who come for the art, the people who come for the music, and those simply looking for community.
